A Nigerian Army Sergeant, identified as Silas Ninyo (93NA/36/2608), shot and killed his superior, Captain T. Mani, because he stopped him from beating innocent civilians in Chibok, Borno State.
The sergeant also killed four others before he killed himself, on Sunday.
According to reports, Captain T. Mani (N/14430), was providing security for worshippers during Sunday service in Chibok when he received a distress call that Sergeant Ninyo was beating civilians, who had done nothing wrong.
Reports say Captain Mani went to the scene with soldiers and freed the civilians.
Unfortunately for the captain, while he was trying to disarm sergeant Ninyo, he was shot dead by the sergeant who also killed four others before killing himself.
The Headquarters of 28 Task Force brigade of the Nigerian army has confirmed the incident.
The have also set up a Board of Inquiry (BOI) to investigate what happened.
